Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Yoga is the absolute best style of yoga for the beginning student. It breaks the poses down into easy, accessible parts, and opens the body, preparing you for ongoing classes and a continuing yoga practice. Yoga is ideally suited to prevent physical and mental illness and to protect the body in general... By it's very nature it is inextricably associated with universal laws: for respect for life, truth, and patience are all indispensable factors in the drawing of a quiet breath, in calmness of mind and firmness of will
Hatha Yoga
When you study hatha yoga you will find that it works on several levels. As a beginner, you will experience the practice of hatha yoga as a form of physical exercise that challenges and refines your flexibility, strength and balance. Also, you will learn to control your breathing in a relaxed and modulated way in order to provide focus in the different postures. Learning to do this properly is the gateway to many of the mental and spiritual benefits of hatha yoga. As the individual progresses, greater flexibility of body and mind is gained. Hatha yoga's added dimension matches development in physical strength with emotional strength. This empowers the practitioner to face life's challenges with a balanced disposition.
Vinyasa
Vinyasa flow is a challenging and invigorating practice which develops strength and flexibility. We link the poses through movement and breath. In this class, we do a deep breathing called Ujjai breath which builds an internal heat in the body that purifies the physical and mental body of toxins. You let the Ujjai breath flow your body into the next posture. This class is great for everyone, even if you are new to yoga or are an experienced yogi. We challenge your body and help you find what it is that you need specifically for your own yoga practice. Remember to always listen to your body!!
Beginning Modern Dance for Adults
This class will draw from many dance techniques and styles, including ballet and modern dance. There will be moving exercises to warm up the body and yoga and pilates based conditioning and stretching. The class will finish with longer more choreographed phrases and combinations to develop coordination, expression, and fitness.
Pilates Mat
Pilates Method is designed to sculpt your entire body and help you lose weight all at the same time. A special combination of controlled movements that is guaranteed to sculpt long, lean muscles, Pilates strengthens the muscles that support the spine, namely the neck, shoulders, abdominals, hips and thighs. Most body aches and pain are due to muscular imbalance. Pilates will help you to realign the spine in order to decrease tension, increase flexibility and strengthen the body from the inside out.
Childrens Yoga
This class will help your child stay focused. It will strengthen their mind, body, and spirit in a natural and healthy way. We will do yoga games, breath meditations, and deep relaxations. This class will help with hyper-activity, A.D.D., and the fullfillment of your child's well-being.
Children's yoga encourages self-esteem, confidence and body awareness without competition. Through this class, your child will gain strength, coordination, flexibility and concentration. Yoga will help your child become independent and develop an intimate relationship with nature in our fast-paced lifestyles.
Prenatal Yoga
Prenatal yoga will help tone your muscles, keep the body limber, improve balance and circulation. It will help keep your body in shape, throughout all the stages of your pregnancy. This class will help you maintain long and lean muscles.
During this prenatal yoga class, you will learn to breathe fully and with control. This is an extremely helpful tool during labor and motherhood. Ujjai breathing, (deep inhalations and exhalations through the nose, filling the lungs and compressing the belly) will help fight the urge to tighten your muscles. Instead, you will be able to relax your body as your labor progresses.
This class will also help you to meet other pregnant women. You will be part of a loving, supportive and nurturing environment. You may even find a best friend or play date partner.
