Horde Assault Tips & Tricks

Days Gone Remastered is available now on PlayStation 5! Experience the definitive version of Days Gone with improved visuals, DualSense haptics, and the new exhilarating game mode, Horde Assault. A survival arcade mode offering fresh and unexpected gameplay designed to challenge your skills as you try to achieve a high score.
With Days Gone Remastered now in your hands, here are some tips and tricks to help you survive the Farewell Wilderness against the increased hordes of Freakers.
SUPPLY BOXES
Supply Boxes are your best friend in Horde Assault. In each map, you start every run with only one low-level weapon equipped. The first Side Job you receive is 'Fight to your Bike'. Eliminate those initial waves and you guessed it, get to your bike to complete the Side Job, refill your resources, and earn enough points to open your first Supply Box. The first time you play Horde Assault, a waypoint will drop for you on the mini-map to tell you where to go. After that, you're on your own to discover them out in the open world. However, simply pull up the Map and you'll see weapon icons scattered around displaying where the Supply Boxes are located.
TIP: Supply Boxes have a chance to not spawn in locations, so if you think you know exactly where they are, guess again!
TIP: By getting into a NERO site, a Supply Box may be waiting for you as a reward.
TIP: Look for Level 4 and 5 weapons in the Supply Boxes, they are the best weapons in the game.

Once you get to a Supply Box, it requires you to have enough points to open it. If the score is green, gear up! If the score is red, you need to eliminate more Freakers first.

With over 20+ weapons to discover, every run can feel totally different!
TIP: In Cascade, you start with a Level 1 SMP9 sidearm. You may come across a SMP9 again in the Supply Box, but it will be Level 4. It might be the same weapon but make sure you equip it since it is greatly improved!
EXPLORE
Horde Assault is action-packed with Freakers coming at you from every direction, but even Deacon St. John needs to rest every once in a while. After you complete a FIGHT phase, you have a short duration to take a breath before the next assault occurs. During the EXPLORE phase, use this time to scavenge for supplies in buildings, abandoned vehicles, NERO sites, and various other locations.
TIP: Supplies can be found in new locations in Horde Assault that is not in the Story.
TIP: Find police cars out in the world as they contain ammo in the trunks. Running low on health? Take out your boot knife and open the back of an ambulance for a Medkit waiting for you. Or maybe you need fuel for the Drifter bike, check the back of tow trucks for a red fuel can to pick up.
BONUS TIP: Once on foot, it is very easy to leave your Drifter bike behind with Hordes pushing you back. Try to keep your bike in close proximity at all times for an easy escape.

Between scavenging for supplies and completing Side Jobs to earn resources (and XP), crafting is essential in staying alive. Take advantage of the "downtime" during EXPLORE to open your weapon wheel and craft as much as you can. Don't get too confident during this phase, other enemies like marauders, Breakers, Rager bears, and more lurk around trying to prevent you from opening Supply Boxes.
TIP: It wouldn't be Horde Assault if you know, hordes were not a constant threat. Regardless if you're in the FIGHT or EXPLORE phases, you may just run into discoverable "boss" hordes that are waiting for you in caves and other locations. Good luck.

TRICK: Throw an Attractor down (ideally, next to a flammable barrel) and wait for the horde to gather around it before dropping a Napalm molotov on the group of Freakers to dwindle its numbers.
BONUS TRICK: Funnel hordes through narrow pathways between obstacles like vehicles and buildings to "group" them up before unloading the magazine on them.
TIP: Freakers never seem to want to leave the Farewell Wilderness, but that won't stop you from burning out their nests. Receive a small bonus to your score with every molotov thrown at a Freaker Nest. Thanks for keeping the world just a little bit safer.
INJECTORS
Injectors drastically changes the gameplay in Horde Assault. With 24 Injectors to earn, these modifiers can be mixed and matched with up to three slots available to significantly increase (or decrease) your scores. Positive Injectors provide a positive boost to your score but increase the challenge. Negative Injectors provide a penalty to your score but increases your chance of survival with gameplay benefits.
TRICK: If you want to earn the highest possible score, equip three positive Injectors at once and look for the highest percentages to really boost your score. Injectors will greatly improve your chances at achieving those high Target Scores to complete the reward path.

TIP: When choosing the 'Exploding Freakers' Injector, create distance between you and the Freakers to stay away from the blast zone. We wouldn't advise using melee weapons with this Injector equipped...
Try different combinations of Injectors for varying gameplay and additional challenge. Horde Assault is your sandbox to use the full arsenal of weaponry, traps, and throwables to experience the exciting and unique gameplay loop of Days Gone Remastered.
ULTIMATE HORDE
If you can survive 30 minutes in any map, you receive a survival bonus of 50K to your score! However, you will also be treated to the Ultimate Horde. Fill your ammo, craft, and get ready for the relentless never-ending horde. There's no escape, survive if you can.

TRICK: Make your life a little easier by equipping the Unlimited Ammo and Unlimited Stamina Injectors before riding out to increase your chances of survival against the Ultimate Horde.
BONUS TRICK: Reach Reputation Phase 3 and have a chance for the Growler gun to spawn in any Supply Box. Growler AND Unlimited Ammo, now that sounds like a good time.
FINAL TIPS
Horde Assault is not for the faint of heart. However, by following these tips and tricks today, you will earn yourself the title of Legendary Survivor. Stay safe out there on the Broken Road, but remember... This World Comes For You.
TIP: If you find yourself struggling in one of the maps, grind your XP on the map you're best at. Cascade is considered the "easiest" of all the maps. The difficulty increases from there.
TIP: Elite enemies like Breakers and Reachers drop in the longer you survive. These enemies are more difficult, but they provide a big score boost.
TRICK: When encountering a Breaker, weaken it by throwing a molotov at it first and then fire away!
