Women's History Month 2024 | Livestreams
Kevin McAllister
To celebrate Women's History Month, the Women@Bend have a special month of activities planned that include not 1, not 2, but 3 livestreams that will spotlight some of the incredible women working at Bend Studio and across PlayStation Studios. We're proud to take this time to honor the contributions of women in games this month and all year round to continue to strive for a more inclusive industry for women. By empowering women across the world, we can Inspire Inclusion.
Starting on Friday, March 15, join Kat Antonowicz - Online Community Specialist at Bend Studio, as she hosts the first of this 3-part livestream series. Each week through March 29, Kat will be joined by a Bend Studio developer and a guest from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, and San Diego Studio to empower, inspire, and celebrate women in games. During this special event, we will be playing various games while raising money for the Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund to help them give girls and women the opportunity to discover their potential through gaming and game development.
In support of Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund, we have some unique gaming merchandise being auctioned off during the month of March that will be awarded to the highest bidders. The auctions include: 2 Days Gone Collector's Editions signed by Bend Studio developers, 1 exclusive Days Gone art book signed by the Bend Studio team, 2 Days Gone original key art posters signed by the Days Gone development team, 1 God of War Ragnarök Collector's Edition signed by Game Director Eric Williams, and 1 signed God of War Ragnarök key art picture. About Girls Make Games
While women make up nearly half the gaming population, less than 24% of game developers in the US are women. Girls Make Games was founded in 2014 to address this gender gap and create a space for girls to explore the world of video games. To date, nearly 25,000 girls in 160 cities and 22 countries have accessed gamedev workshops, summer camps, and tutorials. GMG's published titles have been downloaded over 190,000 times on gaming platforms. By inspiring girls to engage with STEAM through the fun and creativity of game design, we’re creating a world where girls have the chance to discover their potential through gaming and gamedev.
*Auctions available to US, Canada, and Europe only.
